Laboratory of Mechanical and Microstructural Properties Characterization
The Lab operates in the provision of specialized technical services by conducting metallographic tests and accredited mechanical testing (Cgcre/CRL 006 and REBLAS/ANVISA 090), analysis of metallic components failure and conformity assessment of orthopedic implants such as hip prostheses, straight plates, angulated plates, bone screws and intramedullary nail, according to national and international standards. It also has a modern infrastructure of electron microscopy and Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) in INT’s Center for Characterization in Nanotechnology, which complements LACPM’s laboratory infrastructure.
LACPM operates in the technological and innovation development of projects of new products and processes, with emphasis on metallic materials, with the support of development agencies such as FINEP, CNPq, FAPERJ etc. and financing of the Brazilian Research and Industrial Innovation Company (EMBRAPII), especially given the demands of healthcare, oil, gas & energy, metal-mechanical, automobile and steel industry.
