Laboratory of Powder Technology
The Laboratory of Powder Technology (LATEP) has built over the years a strong capacity in processing particulate materials, such as clay-based structural ceramics, alumina, zirconia, silicon carbide, silicon nitride and metal alloys and metal-ceramic composites processed by powder metallurgy. More recently it has also been working in research and development of biomaterials such as titanium, hydroxyapatite, bioceramic coatings and nanomaterials for surgical implants and bone regeneration. In the field of ceramics, it has been active in the development of membranes for potability and water desalination and development of ceramic and polymeric filters for microfiltration of industrial effluents.
