Laboratory of Combinatorial Catalysis
Since 2009, the Laboratory of Combinatorial Catalysis (LACCO/DCAP) is dedicated to the use of high-throughput experimentation (HTE) techniques for synthesis and characterization of heterogeneous catalysts. The laboratory offers instrumental conditions for the preparation of a wide number of samples allowing libraries development and selection of the best conditions and parameters, in a short time. The available infrastructure allows the chemical (X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry), structural (X-Ray Diffraction) and textural (Nitrogen Physisorption) characterization of the catalysts produced, following the protocols of high performance analysis (HTE). It is possible to correlate the data obtained from these characterizations with the catalysts behavior in the conversion of reactants into products, resulting in objective information to improve the synthesis of these materials. LACCO infrastructure is also available for technological studies giving support to chemical and petrochemical companies, including both the development of new catalysts and innovative processes as improvement and modernization of current industrial processes.
